CFAO Mobility Kenya Launches Ninth-Generation Toyota Hilux

CFAO Mobility Kenya has officially launched the ninth-generation Toyota Hilux in Kenya. Tropicalised for Kenyan conditions and assembled locally, the new Hilux raises the standard for capability, efficiency and comfort in the segment that powers the country’s small and medium enterprises.

Building on nearly six decades of global heritage and eight generations of service to Kenyan farmers, contractors, entrepreneurs and corporates, the new generation retains Toyota’s promise of Quality, Durability and Reliability (QDR) while introducing enhanced capability, improved comfort and more advanced technology.

The new Hilux is initially available in the 2.8L Double Cab automatic, in Mid and High specifications, and will retail at ksh. 7,870,000 for the Mid specification and ksh. 10,840,000 for the High specification.

Momentum in the market. The launch follows a period of strong growth. Industry (KMI) data for January to August 2026 shows Kenya’s new vehicle market growing 24.8% to 10,944 units, with pick-ups the fastest-growing category, up 52.6% to 2,949 units. Over the same period, Hilux sales through CFAO Mobility Kenya rose by more than 20% to 850 units. The Hilux double cab accounts for roughly one in every three double cab pickups sold in Kenya.

Powering enterprise. Kenya’s economy is built on its micro, small and medium enterprises, which the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics counts at about 7.4 million, providing close to 15 million jobs and contributing roughly 30% of national output. For these businesses, mobility is a productive asset. The Hilux is an essential business tool used to move goods, transport equipment, connect markets and support daily operations.

Made in Kenya, by Kenyans. The new Hilux is tropicalised, engineered for Kenya’s heat, dust, rain and demanding roads. CFAO Mobility Kenya re-introduced local assembly of the Hilux at CKD level 2 in 2019, ensuring that the vehicle is made for Kenyans by Kenyans.

Built to work. The new Hilux is powered by the proven 2.8L 1GD turbo diesel engine, delivering 150kW and 500Nm through a 6-speed automatic transmission with Eco, Normal and Sport modes and Multi-Terrain Select. It offers a payload of up to about 1,000kg and braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, with a 4WD system featuring a motorised rear differential lock, Downhill Assist, 312mm of ground clearance and an 80-litre fuel tank.

Smarter inside. Depending on specification, the new Hilux offers smart entry, cruise control, wireless charging, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, an electric parking brake and a touchscreen display audio system. The Mid specification, designed for business and fleet customers, features an 8-inch touchscreen with 8-speaker audio, a wireless charger, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, fabric seats and 17-inch alloy wheels. The High specification, designed for lifestyle and image, adds a 12.3-inch touchscreen with 9-speaker premium audio, leather seats with a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 360-degree peripheral camera monitor, power-folding mirrors, tyre-pressure sensors and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The new Hilux offers a fuel efficiency of 12km/l, giving customers a clear measure of running costs when choosing a pickup for their business.

Launched in October, the month Kenya celebrates Mashujaa Day, the New Shujaa campaign recognises the everyday heroes who work hard, overcome challenges and keep businesses and communities moving. It builds on the legacy of the Shujaa wa Kazi, the name Kenyans gave the previous generation.

“The Hilux has earned the trust of generations of Kenyan customers because it has consistently delivered what they need to get the job done. Eight generations on, the New Shujaa is our investment in the next chapter of Kenyan enterprise: tropicalised, assembled here by Kenyans, and engineered to give our customers greater efficiency and unrivalled Quality, Durability and Reliability,” said Arvinder Reel, Managing Director, CFAO Mobility Kenya.

“Our strength lies in what happens after the sale. With the widest network in the country, genuine Toyota parts, trained technicians and a five-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty, whichever comes first, we give customers absolute peace of mind about their vehicle’s performance and uptime,” said Arvinder Reel, Managing Director, CFAO Mobility Kenya.

CFAO Mobility Kenya supports Hilux owners through a network of over 50 branches, dealerships and authorised service centres, genuine Toyota parts and trained service teams.

Customers can also explore financing solutions through a wide variety of bank partners, offering upto 100% financing making this vehicle readily available and accessible to all Kenyans.

The rollout will continue in 2027 with the planned introduction of the 2.4L and Single Cab models, broadening the range to serve customers with different operational requirements and preferences.

With the ninth-generation Hilux, CFAO Mobility Kenya builds on a trusted legacy while bringing customers a new generation of capability, efficiency and technology. Meet the New Shujaa. Always Hilux.
